What is barre?
Barre is a dynamic group fitness class, inspired by dancer-technique exercises, combined with pilates and yoga.
The classes are focused around the “ballet barre,” where students stretch, lift, and burn, working target-areas: core, seat, and arms.
With high-energy music and great teacher-instruction, our students are able to lengthen, strengthen, sculpt, and tone.
Do I need dance experience to join barre class?
Nope! We encourage all to come to our studio, anyone who is looking for a challenging work-out experience.
What should I bring / wear to barre class?
At DB, we require students to wear socks (no toeless please!) in the studio. You should wear comfortable, light clothing, like yoga pants and a tee. We strongly recommend pants that go past your knees. Please feel free to bring a water bottle – you will be sweating!
What can I expect from my classes at Detroit Barre?
We are a community focused on personal, effective fitness results. We believe that a positive, high-energy atmosphere is what keeps people coming back and staying dedicated to their fitness goals.
DB wants its students to experience a transformation in endurance, strength, posture, flexibility, technique, and energy.
Is there parking available?
Yes! We have plenty of street parking for DB students.
What is the cancellation policy?
We know life happens, but we ask that you cancel at least 2 hours prior to class start time. If you miss a class or do not cancel within 2 hours prior to class time, you may be charged for the class. For more information check out our Attendance/Cancellation Policy on our Classes & Rates page!
I have more questions. Where can I call to find out more?
Please feel free to call with your questions. LJ is available at (313) 241-6447, and she is always enthusiastic to talk about the barre-technique!
